1. Agreement
By booking a bike hire with Channel Bike Hire, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. These terms apply to all hire agreements between Channel Bike Hire ("we", "us", "our") and the hirer ("you", "your").
2. Helmets — Hirer's Responsibility
Channel Bike Hire does not supply helmets. It is the sole responsibility of the rider to provide their own correctly fitted, road-worthy helmet. We strongly recommend that all riders wear a helmet at all times while using our bikes.
Channel Bike Hire accepts no liability for any injury, loss, or damage arising from a rider's failure to wear a suitable helmet. By proceeding with a booking you confirm that you understand and accept this responsibility on behalf of yourself and any riders in your group.
3. Hire Period
The standard hire period is 24 hours from the agreed delivery time. Bikes must be available for collection at the agreed address at the end of the hire period. Late returns may incur an additional charge.
4. Delivery and Collection
Delivery and collection are included in the hire price for addresses within the Romney Marsh coverage area. You are responsible for ensuring someone is present at the delivery address at the agreed time. If no one is available to receive the bikes, we reserve the right to charge a re-delivery fee.
5. Care of Bikes
You are responsible for the bikes from the time of delivery until collection. You must take reasonable care of the bikes and keep them secure when not in use. You will be liable for any damage beyond normal wear and tear, or for the full replacement cost if a bike is lost or stolen during the hire period.
6. Rider Suitability
- All riders must be capable of riding a bicycle safely and independently.
- Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
- Bikes must only be used on public roads, cycle paths, and bridleways where cycling is permitted.
- Bikes must not be used in a reckless or dangerous manner.
7. Pricing and Payment
The hire price is £30 per bike for a 24-hour period, inclusive of delivery and collection within the Romney Marsh area. Payment terms will be agreed at the time of booking. Prices are subject to change; the price confirmed at the time of booking will apply to that hire.
8. Cancellations
Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel or amend your booking. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to a cancellation charge. We reserve the right to cancel a booking in exceptional circumstances; in such cases a full refund will be provided.
9. Limitation of Liability
Channel Bike Hire shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or special loss or damage arising from the hire of our bikes. Our total liability to you in connection with any hire shall not exceed the hire fee paid for that booking. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
10. Governing Law
These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from a hire agreement shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
